Simulation of a coplanar circular circulator with a ferrite film

A hexagonal circulator with a coplanar structure and a thin film of ferrite is designed and analyzed using a three dimensional finite element method. The design contains several layers of materials. Simulation results are compared with measured ones, when circulation is obtained around 9 GHz. Our designed circulator with a ferrite film of 50 μm has a simulated insertion loss |S11| is 3 dB and isolation |S31| is 34 dB at central frequency 9.1445 GHz.
