Wound rotor induction machine with an excitation from capacitor energy caused by slip power

The idea of an excitation of wound rotor induction machine from capacitor energy caused by slip power is presented. The main feature of the idea is that excitation of the machine is performed from rotor side without energy source in rotor circuit. The energy of the electric field in rotor can be stored in capacitor and used for compensation of the stator reaction and for operation with given value of power factor. Principle of operation of electromechanical system (EMS) realizing this idea has been explained theoretically and validated by physical experiment. Boundaries of the limitation area with the energy of the electric field stored in capacitor in rotor circuit lower than the energy of the magnetic field required for control tasks depicted above, have been determined theoretically. However, it was shown on the simulation results and explained that presented EMS can operate in wide range of modes if slip and loading don't fall under determined level, and if system parameters are selected correctly.
