Investigation of torque ripple in switched reluctance machines with errors in current and position sensing

This paper proposes an analytical method to quantify the effects of current and position sensor errors on torque ripple of a switched reluctance machine (SRM). First, an instantaneous torque equation for SRM is derived using the Fourier series representation. Then, analytical models are developed to describe the non-idealities of current and position sensors in the drive system. The electromagnetic torque incorporates these non-idealities to quantify their effects on the torque. The different sensor errors are modeled individually, and the harmonic orders in torque ripple due to each error are analyzed in detail. The proposed analytical models are verified by simulation and experimental results.
