Assessment of information efficiency of error-correcting codes in Plotkin bound

Article justifies a term of “assessment of information efficiency of error-correcting codes”. It describes a model of descrete communication channel with parameters, which are necessary for assessment of information efficiency. Authors provide a methodology of comprehensive assessment of information efficiency based on Varshamov-Gilbert, Plotkin and Shannon bounds. Made an assessment of information efficiency of error-correcting codes, which are used in DVB-T and DVB-T2 standarts. Following error-correcting codes were considered: Reed-Solomon, BCH, LDPC, convolutional codes.
