Emerging characteristics in wireless sensor networks: Statistical viewpoints

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are one of the revolutionary information gathering networks to build the smart information and communication systems. WSNs are also transformed in size and characteristics to become Internet of Things (IoT). At the initial stage of planning and design of WSNs, complete information of the network details is not available. This problematic situation can be simplified through the statistical models. In order to understand the network dynamics and characteristics, statistical model of WSNs are very essential. In this paper, we present statistical model of WSNs which helps in network measurement, planning, design and management of WSNs. Also, we intend to check the ‘small-world’ behavior of WSNs.
