CPML discretization error enhancement using second order of Higdon's annihilation equation

This paper intends to introduce the utilization of the second order of Higdon's annihilation equation in the convolutional perfectly matched layer's (CPML's) media of the finite difference time domain method. A number of numerical considerations is required in order to achieve an efficient performance of the proposed method. The effectiveness of the method has been validated by a 2D practical test procedure, and the performance of the proposed method have been compared with original CPML in terms of relative error. Results show that using such absorbing boundary conditions can end up with reducing the discretization error of PML's family.
