Integration of inductive energy harvesting in a biotelemetry implant

A previously developed biotelemetry antenna that can also support radiating energy harvesting is equipped with coils with a goal to add inductive energy harvesting capabilities in a synergistic manner. The antenna is very small and operates at sub-GHz range. Consequently, in order not to affect antenna performance, the coils are very small (less than 2mm diameter). Several challenges lie on a complex design of this kind including getting optimum efficiency and validating the system via measurements. In this work we discuss the steps taken to verify our measurements.
