Pressure for promotion in hierarchical grade structures

Promotion to a higher grade in a hierarchical human resource model serves the objectives of employee engagement and performance recognition from psychological, social and financial perspectives. It is therefore a consequence that there is often a pressure for promotion that also triggers attrition. This paper proposes a model that recognises performance rating and seniority in a grade as contributory factors for pressure for promotion to an immediate higher grade.
