A new analog implementation for the Gaussian function

A new mixed-mode circuit; with input voltage and output current, for analog implementation of the Gaussian function is presented. The proposed circuit is based on approximating the tanh(x) function using the second-generation current-controlled current-conveyor (CCCII). Using the bias-voltages connected to two CCCII the width of the Gaussian function can be controlled. The gain of the Gaussian function can be controlled using the gain of the current amplifiers connected to the output of the CCCIIs. PSPICE simulation results that confirm the functionality of the proposed circuit are presented. The proposed Gaussian function would be useful for industrial applications.
