Numerical study of two synchronous machines aimed to be used in an off-shore wind power application

The present paper deals with the study of two synchronous machines with magnets to compensate rotor leakage flux. Both structures, aimed to be used in an off shore wind energy conversion, have been designed using analytical approaches. Studies are carried out using numerical modeling in order to characterize both structures and quantify their performance when loaded by an inductive load.
