Two reliable approaches to determine the critical excitation capacitor value for a SEIG operating in stand-alone

The present paper proposes two methods which are applied in order to determine the critical excitation capacitor to self-excite an induction generator that operates in stand-alone. Both of them are based on the machine per phase circuit. The first method has an analytical aspect however the second is an iterative one that is inspired from the per unit generator model. The two approaches are well developed and simulated. Resolution results are exhibited for a 1.5kw induction generator. A judicious comparison is done and some conclusions are deduced.
