Distributed control for economic dispatch problem in microgrid

In microgrid, the traditional centralized control strategy is a convenient way to realize system control and schedule, but it is completely dependent on communication which reduces the reliability of system, and plug and play is difficult to be realized for the distributed generator (DG). In order to overcome these challenges, this paper proposes a distributed control strategy based on multi-agent system to solve the economic dispatch problem. Two consensus algorithms are adopted for economic dispatch problems of microgrid. With the incremental cost of each DG as consistent variables, through mutual communication between adjacent DGs, finally, each incremental cost of DG equals to each other and optimal control objective will be achieved. Simulation of the distributed algorithm and comparisons between consensus algorithm with and without the leader verify the advantages of no leader consensus algorithm.
