Low sidelobe leaky wave antenna based on gap waveguide technology

In this paper, a novel low sidelobe leaky wave antenna (LWA) using groove gap waveguide (GGW) technology for Ku band is presented. The low sidelobe character is achieved by setting the different height of mental pins on one side of the GGW to control the leakage rate of the antenna. The impedance bandwidth of this antenna is from 13.5 GHz to 17.5 GHz with an average gain around 18dBi. Moreover, the sidelobe level is below -21.8dB and the beam directions range from 23.9° to 47.7°.
