Technical analysis of ISO/DIS 17025-general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories

Laboratory accreditation of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) laboratories has taken on increasing importance in the last several years. The International Standards Organization (ISO)/Draft International Standard (DIS) 17025 was released in the third quarter of 1998. This international standard will replace ISO/International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) guide 25:1990 and European Norm (EN) 45001:1989. This paper examines the DIS from the technical perspective and compares/contrasts it with the two "standards" it replaces.
