Modeling of effective anisotropies in FeCo and Co nanowires

The knowledge of the basic magnetic properties of nanowires is very important for technological applications such as spintronic and sensing devices.Here we report on the evaluation of the effective anisotropies in Co-based nanowires such as CoFe, monocrystalline hcp Co and polycrystalline Co by means of micromagnetic simulations.The employed method is based on the magnetization torque simulations.We have retrieved the experimental shapes of the torque curves and shown that non-harmonic forms observed at low fields correspond to the presence of open vortices at the nanowire ends.
