Detailed modeling and integrated solution of electrical motor driven system

Electrical system has become a growing trend in the past decades. Electrical motors are the central components that convert electrical power into mechanical power in motor-driven systems. Computer based simulation is used widely in motordriven system design due to the increase of system complexity. This paper presents an integrated solution to design and simulate complex, system level motor system with consideration of detailed device level dynamics. A system level power system library is developed using VHDL-AMS for the designer to easily prototype and analyze high level electrical power distribution and control problems. On the other hand, device level power semiconductor models and characterization are provided for accurate simulation of power electronics. Higher frequency noise and parasitic effects are also brought into the system with reduced order model (ROM) from finite element analysis (FEA) tools for noise spectrum analysis. Finally, a demonstrative example of motor drive system speed control for EMC analysis is presented with reasonable results.
