The effect of rotor position errors on the dynamic behavior of field-orientated controlled PMSM

This paper deals with the effects of rotor position measurement errors in terms of field-orientated control concepts of surface- and interior permanent magnetized synchronous machines (SPMSM/IPMSM). Most publications only consider the influences of deviated controlled currents on the machine's torque, but not the whole dynamics of electric machine and control system. This leads to relatively pessimistic estimations of the resulting torque ripple that might be caused by a wrong measured rotor position signal. The challenge here is to find a mathematical description of electric machine and controller to consider a wrong aligned reference frame up to high speed field weakening region. In the present work, a method is introduced that allows to calculate the torque ripple, efficiency loss and speed ripple for any kind of rotor position sensor error signal.
