Unregulated AC-DC power supply under heavy load operation: Simulation and design

This paper presents a simple technique that can be used in the design of an unregulated power supply operating under light or heavy load conditions. The proposed technique proves to be much more accurate than traditional methodologies. The unregulated power supply represents the first element of most of the power supplies used in home appliances, so the selection of its components reveals to be fundamental in the design of the whole circuit. The proposed technique comprises a set of equations and two simple algorithms that can be easily implemented in open source software for numerical computation. To show the applicability of the proposed technique several experimental results will be presented.
