Design of front end circuitry for detection of surface EMG using bipolar recording technique

Electromyography is a technique widely used for analysis of the proper functioning of the different muscles present in response to an external stimulus or voluntary action. Lately electromyography has found application in Biomedical engineering and Biomechatronic field most commonly as the driving signal for active prosthetics. The need for these application is a highly efficient front-end circuitry capable of detecting the EMG signal using non-invasive technique with maximum noise reduction. In this paper, considering the electrical characteristics of the EMG signal, front-end circuitry is designed which can detect it from the superficial muscle using non-invasive technique. The circuit takes into consideration different noise that can affect the signal causing misinterpretation of the signal.
