A novel method for throughput analysis of MAC protocols in Multi-user MIMO networks

Throughput inefficiency of CSMA/CA MAC protocol enforces to think about designing new MACs with higher throughputs. Multi-User MAC protocols are among those MAC protocols which are designed to handle multiple simultaneous data transmissions and provide higher throughputs in data networks. In this paper, we are going to propose a novel method for throughput analysis of such protocols based on physical parameters of the antennas in both the receiver and the transmitter sides. In order to validate our approach, first we present a simple MAC protocol which handles two simultaneous data transmissions in the uplink of a Multi-user MIMO network. Then, we apply our method on the presented MAC and obtain the throughput of the network. Finally, we validate our method with simulation results.
