Dynamic assessment for islanding detection and situational awareness with distributed generation

This paper evaluates the dynamic behaviour of a system with different scenarios of generation and loads considering renewable distributed generation. The impact on protection subsystems and islanding detection is assessed in time-domain disturbance simulations that lead to islanding situations. Specifically, the simulations will be dedicated to model the dynamic behaviour of the system with Wind Power plants as well as their controllers and converters. A new scheme based on telecommunication-aided synchrophasor measurement is proposed for sensitivity and speed optimization.
