A Quality Assessment Method of Single-Lead ECG Signal Based on Spectral Analysis

There are various disturbances in the acquisition of ECG signals. Signal quality assessment can evaluate the noise level and signal quality. Traditional ECG quality assessment methods are not suitable for single-lead ECG signal. In this paper, first, simulated ECG signals with simulated powerline and EMG interferences were used to analyze the spectrum distribution of ECG signal and the effects of the noise, after that, the single-lead ECG signal quality assessment method was proposed based on the preceding analysis, and then the method was tested with simulated and real ECG signals. Results showed that the method is suitable for single-lead ECG signal quality assessment, and it is simple and effective, can assess the signal quality roughly, meanwhile, the index QI (quality index) can quantitatively assess the signal quality.
