Analysis and simulation of flying capacitor multilevel inverter using PDPWM strategy

This paper explores the implementation of Flying Capacitor Multilevel inverter (FCMLI) using Phase Disposition Pulse Width Modulation (PDPWM) strategy as a control technique for providing gate pulses. Among the three types of MLI, Flying capacitor type is chosen for its better advantages. This paper aims at constructing the FCMLI from its basic two level to the consequent levels for better understanding of multilevel concept. PDPWM strategy is applied to all the levels of FCMLI topology based on the number of switches in each level and carrier signals are chosen accordingly. Properties of various levels are analyzed by simulation using Matlab. Hardware model has been built up to verify the simulated results.
