Analysis of wear using the knock sensor

This article deals with the methods for analysis of component wear in cars. From a variety of electrical and non-electrical components, suitable elements have been selected to determine the mechanical wear of the whole car. As main component, the knock sensor has been selected, whose task is to achieve the most efficient combustion of a mixture of gasoline and air. Evaluation circuit adjusts this mixture in advance, to reduce any engine knocking at higher engine speeds. Knock sensor captures the acoustic vibrations caused by rapid changes of pressure in the combustion chamber. Acoustic vibrations are based on mechanical vibration, by which the level of wear of mechanical parts of the engine is measured. The method of signal processing based on the Fourier transform and its modification was used.
