Dynamic properties and damping predictions for laminated micro-beams by different boundary conditions

During a few last decades importance of research of mechanical properties of thin plates of micro- or nano-dimension is multiplied due to their application in mikro electromechanics systems (MEMS) and nano electromechanics systems (NEMS). It is known that a surface of solid is a region with the thickness of a few atomic diameters, which have its own atomic structure and property which differs from a bulk. For a large solid with, because correlation of volume of external region to mass be small can ignore external effects. However, for small solids with large surface mass ratio effects grows. The main goal of this study is to predict the elastic and damping properties of composite laminated plates by various boundary conditions, simulating MEMS. This problem has an exact solution of the elasticity for simple homogeneous bends and conditions of lateral loading. This paper presents a new method for stress analysis for the accurate determination of detailed stress distributions in multilayer plates subjected to cylindrical bending. Here are some approximate methods for predicting the stress state for laminated plates. This method is adaptive and is not based on strict assumptions about the plate model. The described theoretical model includes the deformations of each layer of the plate, which take into account the effects of deformation of the transverse shear, transverse normal deformation, and nonlinear displacement changes with respect to the coordinate of thickness.
