MPPT control methods in wind energy conversion system using DFIG

This paper presents a review of two Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) methods used in order to extracting maximum possible power from the wind energy conversion systems based on doubly fed induction generator. These two methods are namely tip speed ratio (TSR) control and hill-climb search (HCS) control. The control of the doubly-fed induction generator is based on direct power control for wind power generation with variable speed. The system studied in this work is developed and tested in MATLAB_Simulink environment. Simulation results validate the performance and effectiveness of the proposed control methods.
