Perceived depth modeling based on chromostereopsis

Stereo display technologies have been widely used in various domains, such as 3D movies, 3D games, virtual reality (VR) and so on. Understanding human vision mechanisms is significant. When observers watch 3D images, their visual system utilizes massive cues to perceive depth. Chromostereopsis is one of significant cues. In this paper, authors studied the relationship between human depth perception and hue information, and found that the perceived depth show differences with kinds of hues. In subjective experiments, researchers measured these differences and evaluated hue influences on the depth perception. As a result, researchers build a perceived depth model including hue information. It conforms well to the human visual system, and its perceived depth resembles human perception more than before.
