A fast robust technique for video shot boundary detection

Due to the advancement in data capturing and different communication technologies, large amount of videos available to the viewers on different video sharing websites. Hence, complexity increases in finding the video with desired contents. For these applications, the videos are available in an elementary form called shots in the initial step. Detection of shots requires extraction of various features of the video frames. A large number of Shot Boundary Detection Techniques have been developed, but the major problems related to this is its high computational cost and inefficiency. In this paper, we proposed fast video shot boundary detection technique which fulfills the requirement of real time applications. In this technique, we employ a pre-processing scheme before shot detection which involves Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) and Candidate Segment Selection.
