Development of optimal design of AC excavator electric drive based on valve inverters

The authors pay attention to issues of updating and re-equipment of electric drives of mine excavator fleet. They describe a generalized complex of process and operational requirements to excavator electric drives. They highlight relevancy of the cycloconverter-asynchronous motor (CC-AM) design of electric drive. The paper provides circuits of the developed excavator electric drives based on the silicon-controlled assemblies. It considers the three-phase full bridge circuit of the electric drive based on six silicon-controlled assemblies and power circuit of the electric drive based on the multi-bridge twelve-pulse CC. An optimal CC-AM design of the control system of the excavator electric drive has been developed. The authors offer outcome of simulation of power indicators of this electric drive. They have developed a version of re-equipment of current excavator main electric drives with harmonic filters according to the CC-AM system. The indicators obtained comply with modern complex process and operational requirements to excavator electric drive.
