Filtering membranes based on electrospun expanded polystyrene/β-cyclodextrin fibers

The objective of the work presented in this paper is the obtaining of non-woven fabrics to be used as filtering membranes. These fabrics were produced from expanded polystyrene (EPS) and β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) solutions in dimethylformamide (DMF) using an electrospinning unit with a copper plate collector. The influence of the processing parameters and the percentage of β-cyclodextrin added to expanded polystyrene were investigated.
