A wireless electronic nose (WEN) for the detection and classification of fruits: A case study

The motto of the present work is to introduce a wireless electronic nose for classifying the ripening stages of the various fruits. The sensing system is the development of the wireless electronic nose (WEN) using XBee, an array of gas sensors, LabVIEW GUI and samples of the green and yellow mangos. The smart WEN system is portable, low cost, interactive and can be applied for all types of fruits and vegetables. The data analysis is done using a LabVIEW stand-alone-application (LVSAAPP). Principal component analysis (PCA) based data classification technique is used to examine the performance of the electronic nose for the green, yellow and spoilage stages of the mangos.
