Applying of the electrical equivalent method for multi-objective power flow optimization

The increasing penetration of renewables, distributed generation, smart grid technologies necessitate development of methods well suited for automatic energy management system. There are unit commitment, economic dispatch and optimal power flow among the other relevant tools to find the least-cost operation of available generation resources, minimum real power losses and others under different conditions. At the bottom the optimization issues are multi-objective problems. This paper describes preliminary studding of new approach which provide opportunity to combine multi-objective optimization into single one. This is achieved by electrical nonlinear equivalent of heat/cost/fuel curves for each power unit. Thus, only minimization of power losses can be evaluated in order to reach the multiple objectives. The results obtained for basic examples are presented in this paper.
