Design of ultra compact 3-channel wavelength demultiplexer based on photonic crystal

A new ultra-compact optical filter based on two-dimensional photonic crystal has been proposed and investigated in this article to design and formulate de-multiplexing operation with a 3-channel model. The operating principle of this device is based on linear property of optics and hence the device consumes very low power while providing fast response. The Plain Wave Expansion (PWE) method has been employed to obtain appropriate photonic band gap. Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method has been used to analyze the performance of simulation process. The proposed device filters such important wavelengths so that it can be highly applicable to the integrated photonic information processing circuits.
