A novel loss allocation method for radial distribution system with distributed generations

Deregulation and restructuring of power system and introduction of distributed generation (DG) increased the importance of loss allocation to determine the tariff efficiently. This paper presents a new method based on proportional sharing; consistent with power flow while considering the radial system structure. The method composed of two steps. In the first step loss is allocated to different loads by calculating the contribution of these loads in the total network loss starting from any node. In the second step loss allocated to DGs are obtained by forming contribution matrix followed by power sharing matrix. The application of proposed method is illustrated and validated by using a 6 bus radial distribution system.
