UPFC facts devices in power system to improve the voltage profile and enhancement of power transfer loadability

The expansion of transmission system is more significant due to impact of power transfer capacity of transmission lines on power market transactions but today the new expansion of transmission systems is restricted due to environmental considerations, budgetary problems and potential health effects of electric and magnetic fields. The use of flexible AC transmission system (FACTS) may be cost effective option for enhancement of power capacity of transmission system. FACTS devices which can change the routes of exchanged powers through the transmission lines by changing angle of bus voltage, amplitude as well as reactance of transmission lines. In this paper technological development with modeling of FACTS devices shown to increase line loadability and reduce the transmission congestion by voltage profile improvement. This paper shows the solutions of load flow equations for power systems with UPFC flexible ac transmissions devices for the standard IEEE 14 bus to validate and effectiveness of the proposed method.
