Single vector hydrophone positioning of moving sources based on virtual array

This paper proposed a high resolution algorithm using single vector hydrophone based on moving sources passing characteristic measuring system. The algorithm transfers the time domain result of the hydrophones into virtual array with spatial distribution characteristics and specified interval between array elements. With the virtual array, positioning with high resolution can be obtained by the algorithm MUSIC. In the paper, numerical simulation was implemented to analyze the performance of this positioning method on non-coherent sources and coherent sources. The output showed that virtual array had an analogical positioning result with actual array, which could be an effective positioning method.
