Enhanced optical nonlinearity of the glassy composites based on of the cobalt octanoate and noble metal nanoparticles at the off-resonance excitation

Structural, spectral and nonlinear optical properties of cobalt octanoate composites containing noble metal nanoparticles (NP) have been studied. The cobalt octanoate matrix, Ag NP and Au NP absorb light in the near UV-visible region of the optical spectrum. This feature allowed us to explore an impact of such overlapped light absorption on the optical nonlinearity of the composites at the off-resonance frequency by means of the femtosecond laser scanning technique (Z-scan). Glass-forming properties of metal alkanoates combined with their use as nanoreactor open up a sample and efficient way to design photonic nanomaterials.
