Finite-Element Modeling of Magnetoelectric Energy Transducers With Interdigitated Electrodes

This paper proposes a 2-D finite-element method multiphysics modeling to investigate the behavior of a magnetoelectric material with interdigitated electrodes (IDEs) as an energy transducer. A direct approximation is used to combine the IDE with an array of push-pull piezoelectric elements in which the longitudinal mode is imposed. The internal impedance is determined using a numerical method through the coupling of the field and circuit equations. The simulation results allow estimating the optimal configuration that maximizes the deliverable output power.
