Optimal design for characteristics improvement of single phase line-start permanent magnet synchronous motor

In this paper, it was performed to optimize design of LSM for starting and operating characteristics improvement. Cogging torque and back-EMF were calculated by the no-load analysis, start-up time is calculated. Also, efficiency and torque ripple were calculated by steady state analysis. The characteristics of the motor were calculated through FEM. Validity of this study was proven through comparison of the basic model characteristics with the optimized model ones.
