Segment control scheme of inductive power transfer system for rail transit

A segment control scheme of inductive power transfer (IPT) system for rail transit is proposed in this paper. In this scheme, the power supply range of primary coils along the track is segmented into several intervals and the several sets of pickups are installed aboard. When the vehicle runs, the switching frequency and the reference current of inverters is modulated with the position of the pickup coils by loop-closed control of output voltage. A 750V IPT prototype has been built in our Lab. The validity of the segment control scheme is verified by the experiment results of resistive load and powering the vehicle.
