Comparison of switching techniques under inverter switch short circuit fault

A closed form solution is presented for the transient and steady-state response of surface permanent magnet synchronous machines to single FET short circuit failure in the drive. PWM techniques such as sine and discontinuous switching schemes are compared with respect to the motor performance under such fault condition. With the help of the analytic model the sensitivity of the key control parameters of the drive is discussed. The analytical results are compared with Simulink model.
