Study on the effect of permanent magnets in a novel pole-changing motor

A special motor with new rotor structure of mixing squirrel cage and permanent magnet is presented in this paper, which can be called as Squirrel Cage Pole-Changing Permanent Magnet Motor (SCPCPMM). The structure and basic characteristic of the motor are introduced firstly. And then, the emphasis is focused on the effect of the 4-pole permanent magnets to the magnetic fields produced by 8-pole stator winding. Finally, the simulation result is presented to verify the theoretical analysis.
