A study on fluctuant target detection based on fluctuation factor

In order to study the impact of fluctuant characteristic on target detection, a more accurate RCS fluctuant statistical model for a typical target is established and applied based on the fluctuation factor. Firstly, the dynamic RCS data were gained based on quasi-static method. Secondly, the optimal fluctuation factor was attained after fitted with Chi-square distribution based on the principle of minimal average variance. Finally, according to the relationship between target echo and RCS and combining the probability distribution it obeyed, the relationship among detection probability, SNR (Signal Noise Ratio) and fluctuation factor was researched. The result shows that an obvious direct ratio relationship exists between detection probability and fluctuation factor when the SNR is within some limit. The research of this paper is of significance to the improvement of radar's capability.
