On the directivities of harmonic and spurious emission of phased array antennas

The generation mechanism of harmonic and spurious emission in the phased array radar transmitting channels are analyzed. The channels components' influence on the phase of the harmonic and spurious emission are presented. The phase of harmonic and spurious emission at the stimulating ports of antenna elements are presented as well. The beam direction of harmonic and spurious emission in line array and plan array are analyzed. The array factors of the harmonic and spurious emission are simulated, which proves the emission of harmonic has directivity and the emission of spurious emission are randomly distributed. The experiments validating the analysis are performed.
