Investigations on bidirectional resonant converters for renewable energy sources and energy storage systems

This paper presents the analysis of various topologies of Resonant Bidirectional DC-DC converters for renewable energy source (solar) and energy storage system by simulation. In this paper, the bi-directional DC-DC conversions are analysed and automatic transition is achieved by the new proposed LLC Resonant Bidirectional DC-DC converter. The directions of power flow and output power can be changed automatically and continuously, by the proposed converter. This is important for energy storage systems to balance the energy and to keep the DC-bus voltage constant. Performance of the proposed circuit is validated by investigation of different LLC resonant converter topologies. The analysis is carried out using MATLAB Simulink.
