Performance notification in a reservation-based parking system

Many times, finding a slot for parking a car in a crowded mall or building is a challenge task. One approach of solution is to create hotel like booking system for a parking slot, a reservation-based parking system. This system allow a user book a parking slot in advanced. In this paper we concern the ability of the system to perform notification to the users, since according to previous research finding these could be the critical services. Upon a successful parking slot reservation, user must be notified in several events: first, for the users who entering their grace period of cancelation; second, for the user who will enter the parking lot; third, reminder for the user who will end the parking, they may extend the period of parking, or the must leave at the end of the parking period; forth, thanks notification and wrap-up bill. We observed the system up-to ten thousand notifications at a single process, and it showed that system still perform very well. We compare two servers, one in a cloud-based server and another one is bare-machine server, and two database techniques: standard table query notification and view techniques. Those notification event from the testing page were recorded. We concluded that better server provides better service, and both techniques can be used, but view query more suitable for both servers.
