Development of data aggregation capabilities in domain-specific query language for metallurgy

Data aggregation is a process of expressing information in a summary form for further interpretation using statistical analysis, machine learning or data mining. Almost every data manipulation language has built-in, standard or common capabilities to aggregate data. This paper overviews different concepts of expressing data aggregation in programming languages. Specifically, we overview data aggregation in declarative SQL-based languages like T-SQL, PL/SQL, PostgreSQL, MDX, Neo4j, imperative C# LINQ and R. These concepts affected our domain-specific query language which we designed and implemented for metallurgical production.
