Overhang effect in the axial flux permanent magnet motor

In this paper, the overhang structure which has been used in the radial flux permanent magnet motor was applied to the axial flux permanent magnet motor. Then, we analyzed the overhang effect according to the overhang structure and proposed optimal structure through optimization process. The proposed structure was verified by comparing analysis result using the finite element method with experimental data.
