A novel diamond search ME algorithm for systolic arrays

With the advancements and improvements in the video coding standards, there has been a need to modify the motion estimation algorithms to suit our needs. The introduction of H.264/AVC standard has led to better compression efficiency and flexibility. Being extensive, the computational expenses for the ME algorithms are very large. In order to reduce the complexity, we present a new algorithm which will reduce the complexity for mapping the diamond search algorithm onto a 2D systolic array processor.
