Functional-structural theory based techniques for human-machine systems optimal design

The paper considers an automated procedure for designing a human-machine systems functioning processes (HMS FP), models, methods and techniques discussed are based on functional-structural theory (FST) and generalized structural method suggested by prof. A.I. Gubinsky. Each of alternative human-machine system functioning processes is defined as a functional net (FN). It consists of a number of formalized units: basic functional units and their combinations - basic functional structures. A set of alternative HMS processes is described by an alternative graph. A HMS FP notation based on binary relations between elements included in FN is presented. Resolving the optimization problem takes into account several parameters, including efficiency index, reliability and quality. Hybrid expert system developed with extended functionality allows building all isomorphic representations of the alternative graph, generating the specific directed sorting algorithm automatically and manually. The suggested algorithm defines FN boundaries alternative HMS FP segments can be preset within. The technique to identify a binary relation FN as belonging to a set of nets described under the functional-structural theory is presented. Software implementing all the methods discussed is considered.
